Contemplation of a Time Traveler
What would you say if I told you that contemplation is your vehicle for traveling through time?
Contemplation is your ability to time travel.
Think about it. The one thing that contemplation requires is silence and space, at least internally. I do think it’s possible to find yourself in contemplation when there is craziness around you (I’ve got kids, and it’s almost never quiet), but it’s a lot harder.
So it’s the time you have where you don’t need to react to the things around you in the present. It can be tied to meditation, where you focus on what you are experiencing in the now without trying to react to anything, but I think it goes beyond that.
When in a state of contemplation, you can travel either backwards or forwards in time.
You can go back to the past, and relive experiences you’ve already had. From there, you can change your perception of those events based on everything you’ve learned and experienced since. That’s a way to change the effect of a past event on your present or your future.
And you can contemplate the future. Is the future you are heading towards the one you want? Or is there something you are moving toward that maybe you wish you weren’t. Sometimes you can adjust course in the present, and sometimes you have to go back to the past and cut the anchor loose that was weighing you down.
It’s easy to get lost in the constant busy-ness of the world today and never have the time for quiet contemplation.
But that means you never get to be a time traveler, and are forever stuck in the now, with no ability to change the past or the future.
Create the space for contemplation, hop in your time machine, and see where you end up.
When you return, you might just have a very different view of the present.
