What does the world look like when you exist in the space between worlds?

Since this is where I've gotten the most interest so far, and someone who was generous enough to offset a lot of the costs of creating it, I wanted to offer an intro level course to Quantum Economics For Creators.

Primarily, this is for people are are new creators or are interested in becoming creators. There are a lot of things creators do that feel productive, but don't move the needle. In addition, there are a lot of things that actively hurt your reputation and standing with your audience. So instead of leaving it up to chance, I wanted to show new creators that there is an alternative way.

Before I get into the course outline, I wanted to share why I feel confident in providing this knowledge. Over the last 4 years, I've been studying the creator economy and what it means to be a creator. I noticed that the growth trajectory of a creator is way different from that of an employee, so I wanted to understand exactly why that was.

In those years, I've written on Medium, Substack, ConvertKit, and various other blogging platforms. I also created a podcast and recorded about 30 episodes, after failing to launch 3 other podcast ideas. I created a YouTube channel that currently has steady growth and is sitting a bit over 250 subscribers the last time I checked.

I was also a fellow in the On Deck Course Creator Fellowship, where I learned what a transformational course could do, and how one can structure such a transformation. I used that knowledge to run a cohort course for a single cohort called "Supercharge Your Time", where I shared automation principles and systems thinking.

Within the first month of writing online, I wrote a post that got over 200K views over a weekend, and deleted it by Monday. One of the worst (and yet most transformational) moments in my life.

Have I made a ton of money as a creator? Nope! Not at all, because I've chosen not to for the majority of it. There were also a number of flops that I thought might make money, but that's part of the learning experience. All told, I've probably made about $5K as a creator over the last 4 years.

Instead, I focused on building my communication skills and I spent a ton of time just learning from everyone around me. That's the beauty of the creator economy. Information flows way more freely than it does in most other industries in the world.

I believe that everyone needs to be a creator, because that will make the world a better place, but we need to re-think what exactly a creator is and what they do, because otherwise, the world will continue to completely misprice your skills and impact.

Finally, I'm in the process of writing a book about about how we've shifted from human-centric systems to data-centric systems, and that has caused the vast majority of problems. Then I'll show how we can build human-centric, data-informed systems that can give us the best of both worlds.

That's the main premise at the core of Quantum Economics, and you'll learn how to build those systems in this course.

Course Outline

Introduction To Quantum Economics

Treat all attention given you as the most valuable thing in the world and give out your attention to people generously. (Note: People. not feeds)

tldr; don’t focus on money, focus on people

Module 1: Determine Your Own Values

In order to be successful, you have to understand what exactly you value. This is where your most valuable work will be done. Once you understand yourself, you can attract the people you want to have around you.

Module 2: Own Your Story

If you can’t own your story, it will hold you back. Anything you feel shame about will act like an anchor that holds you back. The more you can connect with that shame and let it go, the more you’ll be able to grow, and people will be drawn to that growth.

Module 3: Give as much as you can

Any chance you have, give back to the world around you. Life is a gift, and we should pay that gift forward. The key to abundance is generosity, because it spreads like wildfire. Be generous with anything you’ve got.

Module 4: Play The Long Game

The shorter your timeline, the less likely your success. It might SEEM like you can have success quickly, but there are a lot of metrics that are actually counter-signals to what you want to be looking for. Playing the long game lets you make decisions that pay off.

Module 5: Design a transparent economy

In order for people to efficiently participate in an economy, they need to be able to see it. Make it very clear what is valued in your economy. These values should be based on the values you came up with in Module 1.

Module 6: A New type of lead magnet

I've been designing something that will be able to replace the typical lead magnets that creators use to collect emails. These lead magnets tend to be lower value, but play on the minds of the person seeing it to trust you enough to share their email. Instead, offer them a tool customized to your needs that can give you insights into what your audience needs. We'll cover why this data is extremely valuable to you as a creator and what you can do with it once you have it.

Module 7: Calculating Your Price

Your price is a function of the value you create within your economy. If you have a transparent economy, it should be pretty obvious what your price is. But we'll examine some of the finer details of pricing to ensure the economy is sustainable.

Module 8: Does Data Matter?

Data should be used to drive questions, not answers. Existing platforms offer you a ton of data that is based on what they think the users think is important. See how that might not be the best way to show data? You can use data, but only in certain ways. Use it to inform the questions you ask your audience, don't let it answer on behalf of your audience.

Module 9: Current Creators Following these Blueprints

There are a number of creators I've studied that helped me identify these patterns, and in this module, I'll walk through the creators I'm studying to help me understand how to live by these principles. These are some of the most generous, kind people I've ever met, and I'll show you what let me key in on what they were doing.

Pricing

Ok, so here's the thing. I don't want to stop anyone from getting this content who might benefit from it. So it's going to be Pay What You Want. What I'd honestly love to see is you taking the course for free, making so much money you don't know what to do with it all, and putting some of that money back into this economy for it helping you get to where you are today.

But I have no expectation of that. And sometimes, people don't value the things they don't pay for, so this is a chance for you to pay as much as it will take to make this as effective as possible for you. I'll let you manage your own pricing psychology instead of trying to influence your decision. (If you want to know how much work people put into trying to get you to pay as much as possible, look up "pricing psychology". It's nuts, and I hate it. I don't like us tapping into people's brains in order to get them to spend money. One of the many issues with today's systems.)

If you need a number to anchor on,  I think $99 is probably fair. Compared to a lot of courses out there, it's a bit cheaper. But if that's too much, pay less! If you want to pay more, pay more! The world is your oyster!
