Today’s Focus: Embracing Uncertainty and Building Partnerships

How can you help someone out?

Key Takeaways:

  • Create value without expecting specific outcomes
  • Share your work and ideas openly
  • Look for unexpected collaboration opportunities
  • Experiment with new models of monetization and partnership

What can you do when you don't worry about a specific outcome?

That's something I've always had trouble with. I like to envision a very specific outcome and try to make it a reality. But then I met Lobow, who became my best friend. I met him when he sent me a DM on Twitter. It was completely out of the blue. He had a podcast that he started to help people with ADHD share their stories, while also helping them see how awesome they really are.

Now, if you meet Lobow, you wouldn't think of him as a podcaster. He is allergic to technology. He can't tell you anything about different mics. He doesn't have an elaborate process. He doesn't study other podcasters to see how they monetize. He simply talks to people. He doesn't do it for any large outcome, he simply wants to give people the chance to tell their story.

He had an experience in his life that made a huge impact. His best friend's wife committed suicide. He was determined to not let one death cause two; he supported his best friend every single day, and helped him get to a point where he could live his life again. Then he realized that his approach might help others, so he started a podcast. And he started figuring it out.

I've been amazed at what he's accomplished. It's been an honor to help him scale up his impact, and be a part of what he's started. I've never seen anyone who is as motivated, selfless, and helpful as he is. He played a big part in helping me see how much power there is in just trying things, and doing so from a place of simply wanting to help.
